theRenamer flatout rocks, great addition to the DL rig and has allowed me to completely automate things :D What I was wondering though is there something like this for album releases or is there a possiblity that one day theRenamer could also rename album or music downloads ?

It just seems that renaming music and ID3 tags is a super time consuming. Programs like MP3 Tag are great but I would like something that is completely automated that you could call from the command line ? Any ideas / thoughts ?

I scoured the net and couldn't really find anything equivalent. I am currently using an automation/macro program combined with Mp3Tag and it works pretty well but yeh an integrated solution would be cool :)

Good to see this topic still active. I really did a thorough hunt around the net and different forums and couldn't really find nething. Mp3Tag takes a lot of the work out of it but it isn't scriptable via commandline unfortunately which would be unreal but doesn't look like the developers are going to ever include that.

As said before I use this program in combination with an automation program for Windows and get about a 90% success rate on have the Mp3's renamed and setup correctly from most releases :)

While not nearly as automated as theRenamer (which as a newly introduced user I absolutely love!), for MP3s the one I prefer the most is TagScanner. Like I said, it's not entirely automated, but once you run the search and confirm the album, it will re-write all the tag information and you can also have it automatically rename files based on the tag information, in a custom format.

low jacking this account from "bug me not" to post.

You could use WINAMP pro
registering (ie cracking it) allows you to use the gracenote music data base.

you just drop your files into winamp right click - SEND TO AUTO TAG.

sit back and relax.

Hey,

I use foobar2000 to manage and listen to my vast collection of music. It's easy to use, has a small footprint, fully customizable and has some wicked plugins. I highly recommend.
It can also pull down metadata for your music automatically. You right click your album and select get metadata n that's pretty much it. More on that here:

Have fun :)

I use The Godfather for many years.
It is not very easy to learn because of its many features but worth the effort.
