Hey - thanks for the latest release that makes the install so much less confusing! Couple of things:

1) Would it be possible to have a "pop up" selection for show matching? For example, the first time I went to rename the show "Chaos," therenamer chose the wrong show. What I really wanted was Chaos (2011) but I got the older one. Of course, I know I can force it using the database (which is what I did). It would be nice if I got to choose from the shows matching "Chaos" and then that was remembered in the db. I know sickbeard has this mechanism for adding shows.

2) I'm still having intermittent problems renaming shows by date (2012). The best example is the daily show names like: The.Daily.Show.2012.01.25.Paula.Broadwell. Sometimes they rename just fine, and other times they don't. I can't seem to find a pattern. Sometimes I just try it three or four times and it works on the last one. Other times, I try it 8hrs later and then it works. I have always verified the entry already exists at thetvdb. Note, if I change the file name to S17E46 (or whatever), therenamer always finds it correctly. That indicates to me it is just having trouble when doing it by date. Sorry, I don't have a log for the behavior

thanks again!

Hi there,

To answer the 1st one, using the database way seems cleaner, as u only enter it once.
Popups of matches may happen for every show you drag in. Like this 'Lost' tv show search.
http://www.thetvdb.com/?string=lost&searchseriesid=&tab=listseries&function=Search

Secondly, the AirDates and Absolute Numbers method uses a different way than the normal SE/1x1/101 way.
It load a xml file for that show which contains all the tv data.
SE/1x1/101 way just loads the webpage itself.

Could be many reasons why it seems unstable. Maybe when the XML download starts, it uses a cache file instead? I'll see if I can avoid a cache file.

Alfred,

That "lost" search does return a lot of results. However, I can tell you it works perfectly in sickbeard and I think it would work in therenamer too. Sickbeard pops up a scroll list and you just tick the radio button for the show you were looking for. I would attach a screen cap, but I dont see a way to do that in this forum. This method would also keep the user from having to visit thetvdb and looking up the show id. Simply picking the show from a list would then automatically put the show id in the database.

On a complete side note. Have you ever considered making the GUI a webpage? I'm a huge fan of windows programs that have a webpage GUI like sickbeard and sabnzbd. That way, I can easily run it on a remote PC a quickly access the gui. 100% of the files that I rename are on another machine on my network (HTPC) which is where I would prefer to run therenamer. However, I don't want to exit the media center software and termservice in to run therenamer. Obviously that won't keep me from using therenamer! Just a thought - but I know that is a lot of work.
