Is there any way to have episodes renamed according to DVD order rather than air date? Most of my shows are DVD rips, and I've come across a few examples (Futurama, Firefly) that have major problems with this. Since thetvdb has DVD order, this seems like it should be possible, but I can't find an option to do it.

Not sure what you mean. Can you give some examples?
All files renamed are in S1E01, 1x01, 101 order.

The shows I've run into are Firefly and Futurama, where the episodes on the DVD set are in a different order than the list on thetvdb. In both cases, you can look at thetvdb and choose DVD Order instead of Aired Order. You can see that here with Firefly: http://thetvdb.com/?tab=season&seriesid ... 5791&lid=7

I'd like to be able to name my media according to the DVD order, since my media collection is all dvd rips.

Oh, so you wish to drag files that have been ripped from DVDs, and use DVD Order as the renamed files?

I haven't ripped DVDs for a very very long time. Not even sure if different DVD ripping softwares output the same filename structure.

Can you give an example of how the folder/files look like after u ripped a DVD?
and do ALL DVD ripping apps output the same structure?

-alf

It's all to do with the order in which the DVD's are mastered and nothing to do with ripping. Take Invader ZIM as a classic example.

As you can see, the to air order and that of the DVD are different for what ever reason. So when you have Invader ZIM - S01E02 it names it Parent Teacher Night and not Bestest Friend.

As not every show suffers from this, perhaps you could do something like this:

Drop episodes on to theRenamer.
It gets them in default order.
Have an option to reorder based on DVD
Then it runs again this time with the selected order.
Click proceed to rename.

The only difference is the extra parameter &order=dvd in the URL
http://thetvdb.com/index.php?tab=season ... 8998&lid=7
http://thetvdb.com/index.php?tab=season ... &order=dvd

I'll do it under Manual Scraping.

A tick box 'DVD Order', for theTVDb mode.

Using Manual Scraping + DVD order ticked, the files u dragged in will use DVD order instead of the default S/E.
This DVD order overrides the 'No' and 'Yr' choices as well.

How's that sound?

Hello. I have tried the DVD Order option in the new beta and I can't get it to work. Should the files be named differently that the s1e01 or 101 formats (tried both). Even tried just a flat numbering the of the files (e.g. 01, 02, 03, 04, etc.)

Thanks!

Post some example files names.

I'm using this to test:
Firefly.S01E01.avi
Firefly.S01E02.avi
Firefly.S01E03.avi
Firefly.S01E04.avi
Firefly.S01E05.avi

Using Manual Scrape, checked DVD Order. DVD order titles came out the right order

I'm having problems for episodes not in season 1.

For example, "The.Boondocks.S02E15.mkv" is mis-identified as S01E15...it does not pick the correct season. This only happens when "Get DVD" is selected.
