yeah thats what i have done and that works fine.

but the problem lies when new files are placed into the shared folder. The new files can not be seen by other network devices.

The existing files that where in the folder when i shared the folder are correct its just any files that are moved by "therenamer" that do not appear on the network

could you try using therenamer to move files to that folder and see if the tv can see them?

I found a very silly fix to the problem

Ok so its simple if the file already has the correct permissions before it gets moved then it keeps those permissions. So share your download folder as well. That way when the files get moved by "therenamer" they already have the correct permissions.

This is not an ideal fix and is more like tricking "therenamer" into doing the correct thing.

So recap:

Problem: files moved by specifically "therenamer" will not inherit any new permissions from the parent object. (but windows copy past works fine)

Fix: Get files to have the correct sharing permissions before "therenamer" moves the files. (ie share your downloads folder as well)

*side note: if you don't what your downloads folder visible across the network make it a hidden share

This is not a fix but a work around. there still seems to be an issues when moving files using therenamer. this of course could be windows doing funny things but i have stuffed around with many windows settings and the issue remains.

Would be good to know if others have come across this issue or not.
