I think there is a bug, or just a feature lacking for movies in folders.

Often I'll have a couple movies I'll rip or dl, and they'll be in their own folder. It seems to always choke on this, and name them improperly. I wrote a script that pulls my movies out from the folders, but it would be great if I could remove the need for it.

Can you post examples of this?
I'll need to know the exact folder/sub folder name, filenames.... everything to test on my side.

Email me or post the structure here.
(You can create blank text files to simulate the movie files, but use the exact filenames)

Example:
The great movie\something.nfo
The great movie\tgm.avi
The great movie\sample\tgm.avi

I just tested, and seems to works fine on my side.

After you pull them out of the folder "The 40 Year Old Virgin (2005)-Unrated-Eng-WS-Divx-AC3-BuRnT-" , it works ok?
If it is inside that "The 40 Year Old Virgin (2005)-Unrated-Eng-WS-Divx-AC3-BuRnT-", it will always rename improperly?

Correct. Maybe I have an incorrect setting, but additionally, if I just drag a movie into TheRenamer in a different location, it has a naming problem as its not in the specified fetch folder.

I have movies in z:\Movies\<MOVIENAME> which end up having the wrong name or need a correction. If i drag them in, it gives me a warning which says "Files NOT dragged from Movie's fetch folder. Files need to be stored in folders with movie names. Continue anyway?" Same thing occurs if drag in <MOVIENAME>\movie.avi.

My fetch folder is c:\downloads\unsortedmovies

This may be related to you, it explains how Movies names are checked.
Hope it helps.

It's just a warning to tell you the files you dragged in are not from your assigned Movie Fetch Folder.

Since movie names depend on the Folder Name the file is contained in, it's just a warning message.
If you drag files that are outside the Movie Fetch folder, BUT the files are contained in a Folder that HAS the correct Movie name, then it is still fine.

If you still have problems,
Post screenhots of your movie settings (pg 1 and 2)... or e-mail to me.

I'll replicate it on my PC using the same data:
Folder: The 40 Year Old Virgin (2005)-Unrated-Eng-WS-Divx-AC3-BuRnT-
Files:
The 40 Year Old Virgin (2005)-Unrated-Eng-WS-Divx-AC3-BuRnT-.avi
The 40 Year Old Virgin (2005).nfo
The 40 Year Old Virgin Unrated (2005).jpg

Found the problem.
Skip Folder (pg 1) is empty. Somehow it screwed things up.

Type at least 1.

theRenamer ships with this by default:
"Screenshot" "Snapshots" "Subtitle" "Sub" "CD1" "CD2" "CD3" "Cover" "Info" "Movie" "Tracker" "Trailer"

For now, type something.. like "pslkdjfr" (if you don't wish to use the default folder names). Most likely you won't come across a folder called "pslkdjfr".
REMEMBER to use Open & Close Quotes.

I'll investigate this an find out what went wrong.
Thanks for your feedback.

Should I put UnsortedMovies as the folder name, or will it skip the whole directory?
